After reading about the dangers of chemical hair dyes and realizing that some of the cancers that are attached to those chemicals have run in my family, I decided to not risk my health when it was unnecessary. I began researching natural alternatives to dying my hair dark and kept running into henna. I was very, very, very apprehensive about using the henna. Since my hair as a tendency to turn bronze with other hair dyes (since it has a naturally red tint) I was terrified that my hair would come out red. I found the light mountain dark brown henna and thought it would be a good time to give it a try. I did a lot of research about using henna and learned a few tricks. I did add coffee and egg to mine to keep the darker tones and for the moisturizing benefits the egg offers. I followed the instructions that came with the box and let it cure for 3 hrs. I did start to do a strand test and just got impatient and went for it anyway. I left the henna on for 3 hours and didn't use heat since I...Read more 8 of 9 people found the following review helpful: By This review is from: Light Mountain Henna Haircolor (Misc.) I have used many hennas, but this brand is handily the worst I've used. If you're unhappy with this stuff, DON'T BLAME HENNA, blame this manufacturer. Then order some Body Art Quality henna and try again -- you'll be much much much happier, I promise! "BAQ" henna is the stuff used on Indian and Mid-eastern brides for intricate skin painting, so it's super-finely sifted and has the best dye content available. Plus, it's less expensive than this junk!!
1. The makers didn't sift out all the small twigs and chunks of the ground leaves, so it feels gritty. makes extra mess and difficulty in the application, and takes FOREVER to wash out. (My body-art-quality henna takes 1 shampoo, this stuff takes 4-5). 2. There is no "use-by" or "packaged-when" date, so you are very likely getting old stale henna. This would explain the pitiful dye release I've experienced with 2 boxes of this stuff. 3. Colors that contain any Indigo (anything darker than their...Read more 2 of 2 people found the following review helpful: This review is from: Hair Color & Conditioner- Red - 4 oz - Powder (Health and Beauty) when you see green powder, it's hard not to be skeptical... BUT the color is without a doubt the most beautiful color you can get. i use the red, fox box, and I was shocked at how easy it was to get the color i'd been wanting for YEARS. i went to sooo many hair stylists asking for a NOT ORANGE, natural looking auburn red color. I felt like i spelled it out for them exactly what i wanted but over and over i never got what i want. it always came out that purplish dark red fake color that everyone has. I used this once and I could have cried i was so happy. lol HONESTLY! couple cons tho-which i dont care either way but i am writing a review so i'll be forthcoming with my knowledge and experience- application is messy. I put towels down but i did accidentally step on some of the clumps. my feet were spotty red. takes a while to rinse out. to speed things up with the rinse out, use warm water for a few minutes to get majority out THEN shampoo. someone mentioned having to...Read more |
