But this has chemical PPD in it which can cause serious allergic reactions. Henna is added for conditioning, but the black color comes from the oxidizing dye paraphenylaminediamine (PPD). That said, when this product is diluted following package directions, the percent PPD is 3%. This is well below the maximum percent PPD allowed by the European Union of 6 %. It is also consistent with the percent of PPD present in commercial black hair dyes sold in retail stores. This product is safe if you are not allergic to PPD. But, as with any retail hair coloring, you must use common sense. Do the patch test a full 48 hrs before coloring, EVERY time you use the product. Avoid this product if you have a known PPD allergy, for example, had an adverse reaction to a "black henna" temporary tattoo you received on vacation.

The only drawback is that there's so little in the packages. It's kind of ridiculous. But it's not expensive so... |
