Garnier Nutrisse Nourishing Color Creme, 53 Medium Golden Brown, One Application

This dye left my hair with a red tint, which I LOVED but was not expecting.

I use Garnier Nutrisse dyes every 4-6 months, and they are the absolute best. Granted, I have pretty low-maintenance hair (naturally dark blonde and straight), so I usually just pick an available Garnier box at the store, wear it until it fades out, then try another. I've been jumping around from different shades in the brown family for the last several years, but this particular dye has been my favorite. It wasn't too dark and it brought out whatever reds might have been in my hair before. The effect was a VERY SUBTLE red tint - something I always hope for but never know how to achieve. It looked natural and I was very happy with it... but I can imagine that someone looking for a truly "Golden Brown" color might want to stay away.

I did a strand test to make sure I'd get the color I want, and all it had the opposite effect on the hair than it was supposed to. I have medium-dark brown hair, and I wanted lighter or at least shinier hair. Instead, all it did was turn it much, much darker (almost black) with a nasty red sheen to it. No thanks. I don't understand why they advertise for something that doesn't even come close to working. My hair wasn't the darkest or most extreme original color that it shows on the side of the package so I thought it'd work great. Instead I got to waste 7 bucks.
