Good Color/Gentle on Hair,

After many years of using Miss Clairol, Nice & Easy, and L'Oreal permanent hair dye in mainly neutral blonde shades that I usually had to mix up myself by combining two different shades, I wanted a light shade of blonde that was golden, not ash or neutral. There are not many light golden blonde shades out there. When Garnier came out with new blonde shades I bought their product. OMG, I will never use anything else again. Not only is the shade exactly what I wanted but the product adds avocado oil to the mix and it's very kind to your hair. Two added bonuses: there is no eye-watering smell to this stuff and in the course of leaving the dye on your head for 25 minutes your blonde hair does not turn an alarming shade of brown due to oxidation. It's something I got used to but not having it happen is a plus. I'm very happy with this product.
Not exactly...,

This is the first time I've ever tried dying my hair, so that may have a little to do with it, but I followed directions exactly and read over them many times. Though the product does leave your hair feeling nice and undamaged, the color leaves a lot to be desired. It says on the box it will take dark blonde (mine was a little lighter than the color shown for "dark blonde" and turn it into a lighter honey blonde... turned out more like a brassy, unnatural looking orange blonde, especially at the roots. I left it in for the maximum amount of time recommended. The gloves weren't a problem, the smell wasn't great but wasn't terrible either.

Gentle on hair, but difficult to use,

I have 2 complaints about this product: First, the gloves cannot grip anything. I dropped the applicator bottle multiple times because I would squeeze it and it would slip out of my hands. Also the dye was hard to spread to all of my hair besides my roots. After a couple of minutes of working it through the length of my hair, half of my ends still didn't have any dye on them.
Second, the color did not quite come out as light as the box indicated. For me this was kind of a good thing because this was my first time dying my hair lighter (I'm a dirty blonde going lighter for the winter) so I didn't want to end up an accidental platinum blonde, but it's still a letdown that the box was misleading. The darkest part of my hair did not see any change in color, and that's the part I specifically wanted to lighten. After all the trouble I had applying the dye and then rinsing it out, the dye must have spent about 30 minutes in the darkest hair and still didn't even change the...Read more
